One of those websites I frequently visit is Searle (NYC). Searle, a legendary Madison Avenue retailer, carries all the major designer brands in their collection and also run their own collection which they sell on their website.

An option overlooked or ignored by most people for finding designer clothes for less is hitting up thrift stores and thrift sales around town. And I really don’t know why, because shopping at thrift sales can really land you on some great designer clothing when you’re on a budget. Besides, with the economic downfall currently going on you would be stupid if you spend more money on fashion clothing than necessary.

The number one reason I hear around me for not visiting thrift stores for shopping designer fashion is that any piece of designer clothing you find there for less has most likely been worn to death by the previous owners and that buying such clothes is filthy as you never know what happened with them. I understand these thoughts, but from my experience I can assure you that you always will find designer clothes for less at these sales that have hardly or even never been worn.

There are even online stores dedicated to picking up second-hand designer clothes that are still brand spanking new. And these stores have done the hard work of making a pre-selection of proper designer clothing already so you can shop around effortless. You should know how many people for example never get around returning a designer clothing piece that they didn’t fit to the store they’ve bought it in. I love these people, as they allow me to buy their designer clothes for less!

Let me give you some tips for shopping designer clothes for less at thrift stores:

• Look for designer clothing which has the original tags still on it, this is a good indication of that the clothing probably has never been worn
• Drive to a local thrift store (like Goodwill) in a rich neighbourhood, you can more often find great designer clothing for less at these stores, it’s common sense really.
• Try to go monochromatic as possible. Pattern-heavy designer clothing can really give away the time it was designed in and are a give-away of you shopping in a thrift store
